Bird's-foot is a small, creeping member if the clover family and, whilst not uncommon it is frequently overlooked as the flowers are so insignificant. Being such a small plant it thrives where the ground is bare or has a very thin grass covering as it cannot compete with anything vigorous nearby. It has a definate preference for sandy or stoney ground where other plants might find it difficult to get a foothold and I have seen it growing on footpaths where sand or gravel has been brought in to make the path.

A tiny flower but quite lovely when one can see it close up.
