The Complete Records Database
Index lists of the database of records by species, sites and recorders
The records database is an accumulation of recorded sightings of species from all over Dorset which is made available here for users to search in a variety of ways. The database contains records for all taxa of animals and plants from mammals to insects and arthropods and from flowering plants to fungi. The list is obviously not the definitive list of species found in Dorset but contains many of the commonly seen ones and a few rarities as well.
Each record has a species name, a location, a date and a recorder and some have a photograph as well. This enables the user to:
- See what species have records in the database and look at the detailed records for any of those species
- See what sites have records in the database and see the species that have been recorded at any one of them
- See what records have been published by each recorder via their Twitter feed
To make interpretation easier, in addition to standard lists there are distribution maps and a range of charts provided but in the RESEARCH section the user can build their own lists, maps and charts. Any list built can also be downloaded to the users computer for further analysis.
